We are excited to announce that Katie and Lisa are officially owners of Press Coffee Company!
On July 17th, 2013, Press Coffee opened under the ownership of Chad Andrews, Ryan From, Sam Thibodeaux, and Swen Larson. As lovers of French pressed coffee, they looked for a manager to bring the coffee know-how and run the day to day operations of the shop. Chad reached out to Ben Pierce, a former barista at Java House and Starbucks supervisor. Ben was interested in helping but also recommended Katie who had six years of experience as a barista and manager at Java House. While their opening day was no picnic for Katie (gallbladder surgery followed by kidney stones!!), her and Ben got the shop off and running in North Coralville.
Having met Lisa in Roller Derby, Katie brought her on in 2014 as a part-time barista, eventually promoting her to a co-manager. Lisa also had a background in coffee, slinging drinks at T-Spoons during college, and her interest in art, social media, and writing helped fill in some gaps after Ben’s departure to the West coast. Press Coffee has grown and evolved over the last seven years to what you know and love today, and as they move forward as owner-operators, Katie and Lisa are excited about the possibilities of the future so, stay tuned!
