PRESS PRESENTS
GAME NIGHT
ARTISTS
Current Artist: Patti Zwick
Patti’s wall quiltz, mini quiltz, wordz on wood, magnets, and framed collages are on display through June 9th.
“As a self taught quilt maker, it has been a pilgrimage of trials and rewards. My first quilt was made in 1984,
not because I wanted to sew, but because I wanted a quilt. The finished quilt contained over 4,000 pieces and
measured 91″ x 91″. Along the way, I fell in love with the process of quilt-making. I knew I’d found my
medium within the art realm. It was as if the quiltz chose me. Still, each time I prepare to make a quilt, I
puzzle over the notion of buying large pieces of fabric, cutting them up and sewing them back together!
Each quilt I make sprouts seeds for the ones that will follow. Today, my quiltz are scattered over forty-three
states and twenty-three countries. While it is sometimes wrenching to sell or give away my work, I feel great
delight in witnessing the reciprocity that blossoms during the exchange. When someone says I feel honored to
have one of your quiltz, I also feel honored. It is more than a retail exchange of goods and services for
currency. It is a long-lived, tangible transfer of energy. The circle of emotion is complete, flowing from me to
the recipient and back again. I like to imagine my quiltz joining the long legacy in the history of quilts
bringing warmth and beauty into the lives of people.
For me, my quiltz embody resilience, love, faith, endurance, creativity, and an all encompassing embrace
of human life. They announce my presence to the world. They enrich my days and nights. They connect
me with people who cherish what I do and they keep me warm at night.
