We’re Moving! What’s Next?

2020 has been a wild ride but we’re aiming to end on a good note by building a better Press Coffee. In August we took ownership of Press and this month we announced our plan to relocate the shop to North Dodge Street in Iowa City. You’ve probably got a few questions and we hope to clear those up here. Feel free to contact us with any other inquiries you may have. (Updated 11/26/2020)

What’s happening now:

Press Coffee’s last day in Coralville was November 20th.
We are now in transition to our new location! However, we still have a long road ahead of us. The Coralville shop is getting packed up and soon our future landlord will acquire the building. The next City Council meeting discussing the property will be on December 1st at 7 p.m.

If our absence has your coffee routine out of whack, we wrote up a quick guide for different brewing methods at home. In a hurry? We encourage you to download the Jump Coffee App! We will continue to utilize it when the new shop opens and it now supports other locally-owned coffee shops like our friends at Capanna.

Any Press Coffee gift cards you have on file or at home will still be good in the future, so be sure to hang on to them.

We have a lot of work ahead of us to get the new place ready and we plan on documenting the build-out along the way. Follow along on Facebook, Instagram, and Twitter, or just sign up for our newsletter for weekly updates.

What’s happening next:

Our goal is to reopen in April at 1120 North Dodge Street in Iowa City.
A lot of factors play into that timeline so please check back for updates over the next several months.

Our future home is located across from North Dodge Hy-Vee and next to St. Joseph Cemetery, just 2 minutes from Interstate-80. Many trails and bike routes are nearby as well as one of the entrances to Hickory Hills park.

Some of the features of the new Press Coffee will include covered patio seating with our Little Free Library nearby, a drive-up window, an expanded menu, and extra space for events or meetings. We will continue to take orders on the Jump Coffee app which will work even better in combination with our drive-up service, no need to even get out of the car!

We will also be researching and putting together a more expansive breakfast and lunch menu. It will include pastries, sandwiches, and salads made in house to ensure freshness and reduce waste. If there’s something you’d like to see offered in the future, let us know!

When it makes sense to gather again we want to re-introduce events like craft night, game night, and receptions for featured artists. We also want to offer our space for parties, work meetings, or study groups. Bringing the community together is important to us, so feel free to send us your ideas or requests for the future.

You’ll see some familiar faces behind the counter when we reopen, but Press Coffee will also need to hire more staff. Send us an e-mail if you’re interested in joining us and check back in March when we start hiring and training.

Stay tuned for more!
