Why French Press?

Why French Press?

Here at Press Coffee Company, every cup of brewed coffee comes from a French press. We have three size options at the available– a press for one, two, or four and even what we have pre-made “on tap” every morning is brewed in large batches by the press. In a pour-over community, we believe that taking the time to craft a delicious cup of coffee with a French press is the best way to wake up in the morning.

Like a pot of tea, the French press method of brewing is similar in that the grounds sit and steep in water instead of being forced through them quickly. This means that the coffee has more contact time with the water which yields rich, less bitter results. A press is typically made out of metal or glass, so there are no impurities from a machine or plastic pieces.

When it’s time to pour the coffee, it’s filtered by a metal strainer instead of a paper filter which has three benefits. The first being that all the natural flavors and aromas of the bean make it into the cup but also means that the taste of the paper filter won’t be poured out. Lastly, cleanup means rinsing and composting, but there is no paper waste with each brew. While there is a chance for some grounds to make it to the bottom of your cup, it’s the side-effect of drinking a full-bodied brew.

The versatility of size and its portability makes French press a great accessory to have at home. Whether you just need a single cup pick-me-up or an all-night study session to fuel up for, there’s a press for your needs. It even makes a great travel buddy for hotel rooms or camping, any place where you have access to hot water. For the avid road tripper, Bodum makes a travel mug with a plunger in the lid so you can literally press and go. Not only does a French press make coffee, but it can brew up tea or cold brew as well.

We hope everyone loves French press as much we do! Stop in for a personal press of your favorite roast and see if you can taste the flavor profile of the bean. We have small and medium presses for sale and can bag up any of our beans whole or ground. For a French press step by step, head over to our how-to guide, complete with video!
